This Month's
News (May 15th - July 1st)
What a great time
it was here at The Quiet Corner during the last
month and a half. For those who weren't aware, the
month of June was our 10 Year Anniversary and what a
GREAT month it turned out to be!
The Silent
Mysteries Give Away!:
In honor of our
anniversary, I did something which I've never done
before. I opened the vault to the Silent Mysteries
Members Only area. Everyone and anyone who came to
the website was given free reign to come and read
the entire 618 page novel for FREE! In turn, I think
I made a few new friends and fans, because the email
I received this month nearly tripled what I had
received in many, many months!
I was thrilled to
hear that everyone enjoyed themselves and thanks to
everyone who took the time to congratulate me on
making it a full ten years online as an author.
Some Changes
Were Made:
One of the things
that I really disliked a lot were all of the
advertisements for Amazon.com that I'd thought might
help bring a little added income to The Quiet
Corner. The fact is that I really don't think they
brought a lot of charisma to the pages that they'd
been placed on. So, I made an administrative
decision during my vacation! As long as the
donations and book sales continue to support this
website, the Amazon.com links are going the way of
the wind. In other words? When money gets tight I
may have to bring the ads back, but for now they are
coming off the website.
Dink Smallwood:
I was so excited a
few weeks ago when I found Dink Smallwood posted as
a free download online. I played this game MANY
years ago. It was a cross between Zelda and The
Secret of Monkey Island (For those who remember that
far back with me...) and it still plays as well now
as it ever did! Check out! You can find the link to
it on the Mind Games page.
Romance Novel
News!:
During my
mini-vacation at the end of July, I spent quite a
bit of sitting back and writing happily--although I
can't say it was all that sunny where we live.
However, I was able to get quite a bit done on
Calignous, so you should see that novel beginning to
make its presence known as soon as I can build the
pages for it here on the website.
As for Silent
Hearts, I finished off the last portion of Episode
1. I had a lot of curious emails regarding the last
portion of the episode... Those who've read Silent
Mysteries can probably guess one question that
remained the focus of many of those emails. All I
can tell you is that I'm not saying a word! Maybe
the mysterious man in the tavern is as plain as the
nose on your face... But, maybe he's not... Only
time will tell the answer to that mystery.
One question I
will answer is the subject of whether or not Damon
Manor will come back into focus during this novel.
The answer to that is, yes. The Ryder Townhouse is a
vehicle to begin the book, but it is not where most
of the action will take place. But, we had to begin
somewhere, didn't we?
A second question
I've been asked this past month was what the storm I
keep speaking about is in reference to. Is it a snow
storm? Is someone going to die? Is it an emotional
storm of sorts? Pretty much what I will opt to say
is this. As the next two episodes unfold, a huge
tragedy is about to occur. It will render every
resident in the book speechless, setting off a chain
of events that will tell you why the book was aptly
named, Silent Hearts.
The Video
Corners:
All of our video
corners were updated this month. I finished the
first full season of videos for Star Trek (The
Original Series), adding in a link for each video to
a Wikipedia page for each individual episode. You
can find complete cast lists, video descriptions and
little known facts, all by clicking the handy little
link that now sits beneath each video listed on the
page.
I also added some
great new Matthew Ashford and Melissa Reeves footage
from a fan event they held in Oshkosh, WI. I haven't
managed to complete clipping the entire event yet,
but one day soon. For the longest time I did refrain
from clipping the stage portion of the event, but
that's because the audio was very hard to hear from
inside the auditorium. Well, I sat down and started
captioning the video, which seemed to make it
enjoyable enough that I decided to add it into the
J&J (Days) page.
Dark Shadows,
Kitchen Nightmares and The Incredible Hulk all got
their share of updates as well. While I'm not making
a fulltime career out of hosting videos on this
website, it sure is fun posting them and then
reading some of the responses viewers have to say
regarding them.
Every single video
displayed on this website is one that I personally
enjoyed watching. You will never see me posting
videos just for the heck of it, so come on and keep
that email coming! I love it.
Happy Reading &
Watching!!!
